Great Lakes Naval Base

The Great Lakes Naval Base is located just outside Chicago on the shore of Lake Michigan. It is the largest Navy training center in the United States. To date almost 3 million recruits have passed through the 8 week training program. It is an intense program that tests the physical, academic and emotional strengths of its recruits. Once you pass the program there’s no prouder moment in the life of a sailor. Almost every week of the year a graduation ceremony takes place at the Great Lakes Naval Base. It is the official moment where recruits transform from civilians to sailors. It is also an opportunity for sailors to share their moment of glory with their friends and family.
